If you notice any of these, it is time to call:
- Water still in the drum at the end of the cycle
- The drain pump or the filter in front of it. Coins, hair clips and screws collect there, and on most front-loaders it is a five-minute clean rather than a part.
- Drum will not spin, or spins slowly
- A worn belt, a door lock switch that no longer confirms, or the motor control board. The lock is a safety interlock, so the machine is doing exactly what it was designed to do.
- Machine walking across the floor
- Shock absorbers, suspension rods, or a load that will not balance. Left alone this is what destroys the bearings, so it is worth fixing early.
- Grinding or roaring on the spin cycle
