It fills, it freezes, it works out that the ice is ready, it turns the cubes out, and it starts again. Something in that chain has stopped and the chain is short enough to walk down in order.
Is water arriving?
Most often it is not. Check the supply valve behind or under the unit is genuinely open, then check the filter. A filter past its life restricts flow enough that the mould never fills properly, and a half-filled mould gives you hollow crescents rather than nothing, which is a useful clue you are in the right place. On built-ins the filter is often in the grille at the top rather than underneath.
Is it cold enough?
An ice maker wants the freezer at or below 0 degrees. Warmer and the harvest either does not trigger or gives you slush. If the ice stopped at roughly the same time the freezer started struggling, then the ice maker is the error you notice and the freezer is the job.
The one almost nobody finds
The fill tube runs through part of the cabinet that is not always as cold as the freezer. A partial freeze there stops the fill without stopping anything else, so the machine looks perfectly healthy and simply makes nothing. A warm cloth finds it in two minutes when you know to look, and there is nothing to see when you do not.
Then the mechanism
The module, the mould heater that releases the cubes, the thermostat deciding they are ready, and the bail arm sensing a full bin. All replaceable, none expensive, and worth having the model number to hand so the right one arrives first time.
Before you call
Check the bail arm is down. It is the wire arm inside the bin, it switches the whole thing off when raised, and it gets knocked up by a bag of ice more often than anybody admits.
